The EPI website is a project of the Iowa State Epidemiological Workgroup (SEW) supported by the Iowa Department of Public Health and funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

The website was created to provide data in the Assessment section of the Strategic Prevention Framework process. It gives everyone interested in substance abuse prevention and treatment access to the state of Iowa research and data. This information is intended to help users to effectively handle alcohol, tobacco, and illicit drug problems in their area.
