State Epidemiological Outcomes Workgroup Project

State Epidemiological Outcomes Workgroup (Workgroup), funded by Iowa Department of Public Health through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), involved the development of a formal state epidemiological workgroup that systematically examines alcohol, tobacco and other drug-related data to assess the prevalence of substance use, abuse, and dependence and related problems in the State of Iowa. The Workgroup produced an Iowa epidemiological profile of need-patterns of consumption and consequences of substance use in March 2007, updated in February 2008. The Workgroup also produced two community profiles - for Scott and Hardin Counties. The Workgroup updated the state profile, produced a third community profile, and developed a dissemination plan during the third project year (March 15, 2008 - March 14, 2009). The Consortium actively participated as members of the Workgroup and provided specific services to meet project objectives and leads efforts to produce the products for the project. This project was completed in March, 2009. Some activities were picked up in Iowa's SPF SIG.
